NUOWTR MAI LE MOANA TRUST
At Ngā Uri o Whiti Te Rā Mai Le Moana Trust we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing participation in community service. Engaging in community service provides students/youth with the opportunity to become active members of their community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large. Community service or volunteerism enables students to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those who need it most.
Ngā Uri o Whiti Te Rā Mai Le Moana Trust is a key contributor to the community service and has made connections with other external charitable organisations that offer specific services to the needs of our community. Through collaboration, we have met some of the needs for community gatherings we’ve hosted. NUOWTR believes in serving communities and enabling participants to give back.
Community Give Back
NUOWTR Mai Le Moana Trust were pleased to have hosted our first community give back day as displayed in the photo.
This day was very successful and this couldn't of happened without the support and assistance of volunteers, churches and charities locally.
Organisations involved: Maraeroa Marae, Menorah Prayer Mountain, local families, NZMA, NUOWTR Mai Le Moana Trust.
We were meant to host another one in 2020 and in 2021. However, due to COVID-19 this will be postponed to host again in the future.
Suicide Prevention Show
NUOWTR Mai Le Moana Trust were offered an opportunity to speak out at a public based around suicide. In 2018 Porirua was faced with one of the most difficult challenges.
A event took place at the freedom church facilitated by Stand Strong whānau. This was an opportunity for our parents and wider Porirua community to have a talanoa in regards to the recent events that had taken place.
NUOWTR were fortunate enough to display a short piece written by: Keromesa Kome. As is displayed in the picture above. This event was a successful one. We decided to carry on this movement as it is important for our people to constantly remind themselves of their importance in life.
